Becky and Molly Buck

“The Holiday Homes Tour marks the beginning of the holidays for our family, and puts us in the spirit of the season.” – Becky Buck

If you happened to attend the Holiday Homes Tour back when it started in the early 1990s, you may have seen two young sisters handing out shoe covers or volunteering as docents. As the tour gained momentum and popularity over the next quarter century, those teens grew up along with it, volunteering their time each year in service of people affected by cancer in our community.

This year is no different for Becky and Molly Buck. Both sisters are serving on the Holiday Homes Tour committee, Becky as Marketing Chair and Molly as Raffle and Opportunity Coordinator.

As if volunteering many hours on the committee wasn’t enough, the Buck sisters attend the Tour and accompanying Holiday Boutique every single year, bringing clients and friends to encourage them to make it an annual tradition, too.

“We make a day of it,” says Becky, who is Director of Operations for Los Robles Homecare Services, Inc. “We dress up in our festive holiday attire, take them out for breakfast, tour the homes, and then go shopping at the Boutique.”

“It is always a magical experience for me, and it gives me an opportunity to recognize all the people in our community who are fighting cancer or whose families have been affected by cancer,” adds Molly, Marketing Director for Los Robles Services, which was founded by Becky and Molly’s mother, Joan Buck-Plassmeyer, and their stepfather, Craig Plassmeyer.

Like so many families in the Conejo Valley, the Buck-Plassmeyer family was affected by cancer – Becky and Molly lost their father to lung cancer in 1984. Joan met Craig at a bereavement group, as he had lost his spouse to cancer as well – within three months of Molly and Becky losing their father.

The Buck-Plassmeyer family has been a continuous supporter of CSCVVSB since its inception 27 years ago. “My mother felt it was an organization she could be passionate about, not only as a nurse but also because of the many ways cancer has affected our family,” says Becky.

In fact, the family was so passionate about supporting people affected by cancer that the Buck-Plassmeyer home was featured on the tour, and it has been the site of several VIP events for the Tour.

“We love being part of the fundraising team to help spread the word about this amazing organization in our own backyard,” says Becky. “It just puts us in a great mood knowing we are all making a difference while we get to enjoy visiting the homes and seeing everyone’s unique holiday traditions.”

Adds Molly, “I have made lifelong friends and amazing memories by being involved with Cancer Support Community.”

CSCVVSB extends heartfelt thanks the Buck-Plassmeyer family for over 25 years of service and support. Learn more about becoming part of the Holiday Homes Tour volunteer team by heading over to our contact page and submitting a volunteer request. Thank you!
