Get Started

Welcome to the first three steps in your cancer support journey. You are among friends.

Please follow the below THREE STEPS to ensure immediate use of all programs and services provided by Cancer Support Community-Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara.

Step 1: Newcomer’s Welcome Orientation

We welcome ALL people impacted by cancer to seek and receive the emotional, psychological, and physical cancer help you need.

Before signing up for any educational workshops, cancer support groups, individual cancer counseling or healthy lifestyle classes, we require that all participants, whether cancer patients or caregivers of cancer patients, join us for a one-hour Newcomer’s Welcome Orientation. During the orientation, we will share our many supportive cancer programs and guide you through how to navigate our website and easily sign-up for cancer support services. All cancer support programs are made possible through generous donations and fundraising events, which allows us to offer our participants all services AT NO COST.

Step 3: Needs Assessment & Individualized Care Plan

As part of Newcomer Orientation, we will invite you to take a confidential needs assessment survey, CancerSupportSource®. It helps you identify areas of concern/needs you may have related to your cancer experience. We find many people don’t realize how cancer impacts all areas of their lives. At the end of the survey, you will receive a report with additional information about resources based on how you answered the questions. We will send you an email with the link to the survey. Please take a few minutes (5-10 minutes) to answer the questions and gain some useful information.
