Are you a dual-eligible individual with questions about your Medicare and/or Medi-Cal coverage? You are not alone! Medicare and Medi-Cal can be very confusing health insurance programs to understand and navigate. Stephanie Fajuri Denning from the Center for Health Care Rights (CHCR) will discuss the benefits you have under each program, your plan options, costs, and how the two programs coordinate with one another. The Center for Health Care Rights (CHCR) is a non-profit organization that provides free information and help to Los Angeles County residents with Medicare and related health insurance coverage such as Medi-Cal.
Stephanie Fajuri Denning is the Senior Program Manager/ Staff attorney for the Center for Health Care Rights (CHCR) in Los Angeles, California. In this role, Ms. Denning provides Medicare and Medi-Cal advocacy and counseling on CHCR’s county-wide hotline and conducts community education training on related topics. Prior to this position, Ms. Denning was Director of the Disability Rights Legal Center’s Cancer Legal Resource Center (CLRC), where she oversaw the counseling of thousands of cancer patients, caregivers, and health care professionals on the CLRC’s national hotline developed educational publications covering a wide range of cancer-related legal issues, and conducted over 150 educational trainings on cancer-related legal topics. Ms. Fajuri earned her J.D. at Chicago-Kent College of Law, and her B.A. in History at the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor. She is a member of the State Bars of California and New York. She is also a member of Legal Voices, the chorus of the Los Angeles Lawyers Philharmonic.
