Join us “in the kitchen” while our nutrition expert, Susan Speer, discusses the natural cancer fighters in everyday foods. Whether you are facing an initial cancer diagnosis, in treatment, or beyond, nutrition is an important part of your care and well-being. Come and sample the taste of spring and learn about the immunity boosting and anti-inflammatory properties of foods in your own cupboards.
Susan Speer is the certified Oncology Nutrition Specialist at the St. John’ Regional Cancer Center in Oxnard. She has been developing and teaching programs in health promotion and disease management for more than 35 years. In the past, Susan taught biochemistry and nutrition at Pepperdine University and Moorpark Community College and she was on faculty at the Santa Monica-UCLA Family Medicine Residency for nearly 20 years. She has authored numerous articles, monographs, and textbook chapters on nutrition and family medicine and her awards include the 2001 Residents’ Award for Teaching Excellence. She is also the 2012 recipient of the Cancer Support Community VVSB’s Award of Excellence and the Fainer-Tauber Allied Health Professional of the Year 2015 in Ventura County.
